Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The new company will be headed by Beachmint's Josh Berman. As part of the deal--which makes Conde Nast the majority owner of the company--Lucky will launch a new e-commerce store featuring merchandise from brand featured in every issue of the fashion magazine. BeachMint had been venture backed by Accel Partners, Anthem Ventures, Goldman Sachs, Lightbank, Millennium Technology Value Partners, New Enterprise Associates, New World Ventures, Scale Venture Partners, Stanford University, and Trinity Ventures. Newegg Expands In Asia, Europe ---- Los Angeles-based e-commerce retailer Newegg said this morning that it is in a major expansion in both Asia and Europe, and has launched new, multilingual websites in India, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland and Singapore. According to NewEgg, the new websites are its first foray beyond the U.S., Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom. The e-commerce retailer said that it will initially have a smaller selection of products on the site, gradually ramping up products available on those sites. As part of the international expansion, Newegg also has added new, multilingual customer service and support services. Cornerstone OnDemand Wins Hyatt ---- Santa Monica-based software developer Cornerstone OnDemand said today that it has scored a win with hotel and hospitality brand Hyatt. Cornerstone said that Hyatt will use its cloud-based talent management software for performance management, compensation, performance reviews, and other employee management efforts. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed. ViaSat Claims Win In Contract, Patent Case ---- Carlsbad-based satellite communications technology developer ViaSat claimed a win in court today, saying that a federal court judge has upheld a jury verdict against Space Systems/Loral. That earlier verdict found Space Systems/Loral had breached a contract with ViaSat, and infringed on its patents, and ordered Space Systems/Loral to pay $283M in damages to ViaSat. ViaSat said that its now has a hearing on August 26th on its request for a permanent injunction against SS/L for manufacturing and selling infringing satellite or satellite components. Surf Air Raises $73M, Orders 15 New Planes ---- Santa Monica-based Surf Air, the membership-based airline which has been serving Silicon Beach, is in a major expansion, saying that it has ordered 15 new planes--with an option on another 50--and raised $73M in debt and equity. The airline--which is now led by Jeff Potter--said it ordered a total of up to 65 Pilatus aircraft to be delivered over the next five years, or approximately $312M in airplanes. The funding came from March Capital Partners and Triangle Peak Partners. According to the company--which was founded and is led by Mazen Fawaz--the company uses historical home sale data to match homebuyers and sellers with real estate agents for their specific home. The company said it already covers 75 major U.S. metro areas, having started in Los Angeles.
