Pragmatic said that Pick1, which runs on iOS, lets users reveal their personality traits, and discover their habits, interests and preferences by picking from pairs of choices. The social app lets users ask their friends and followers different kinds of questions on any topic. Pick1 said users can pick from a list of questions or make up their own. Pragmatic Solutions is led by Peter Jakl. TextMarks Wins Deal In Florida ---- Pasadena-based TextMarks said today that it has scored a win in Tampa, Florida, and will be powering the text messaging capabilities for the Hillsborough Regional Transit Authority (HART). Financial impact of the win was not disclosed. TextMarks said that its service will be used to send out text messages on bus arrivals and schedules, via a GPS-based app called OneBusAway. TextMarks provides the SMS solutions both through the app as well as through short code messages. Boingo Launches New Public Wi-Fi Design Approach ---- Los Angeles-based Boingo Wireless said this morning that it has launched a new approach to deploying public, Wi-Fi access, which it calls S.M.A.R.T. Networks. According to Boingo, its new network design effort splits public Wi-Fi into various tiers of access, ranging from free, advertising and sponsorship supported Wi-Fi, up to 20MB enterprise Wi-Fi service. The company says S.M.A.R.T. stands for Secure, Multiplatform, Analytics-Driven, Responsive and Tiered. Boingo said it has begun deploying the new network design approach for airports, and will soon make it available to other, large-scale venues. Boingo currently provides Wi-Fi services at such locations at Chicago O'Hare, LAX, New York's John F. Kennedy, and Miami International. Ignyta Names CSO ---- San Diego-based biotechnology developer Ignyta said this morning that it has named Robert Wild, Ph.D., as the company's new Chief Scientific Officer and Senior Vice President, Research. Wild was most recently Chief Scientific Officer, Oncology Research, Drug Discovery at Eli Lilly & Company, and also has served at OSI Pharmaceuticals and Bristol-Myers Squibb. Ignyta is focused on cancer treatments. GumGum Names CRO ---- Los Angeles-based advertising technolog provider GumGum said this week that it has appointed a new, Chief Revenue Officer, as the company continues to build out its management team. The company--which provides technology which embeds advertising within images--said Mike Rosner, former VP of Sales North America at MediaMind, has been appointed to the Chief Revenue Officer position. Rosner also previously served at Beanstock, EyeWonder, and PointRoll. GumGum said Rosner will lead the company's worldwide ssales organization.
