The move was originally reported by The Daily News. The DailY News reports that the family laid off around 50 people at the Chatsworth plant as a result of the shutdown, as the company has "mothballed" its operations. Boulder Electric Vehicles had been developing medium- and light-duty electric trucks, aimed at the corporate and municipal market http://www.socaltech.com/boulder_electric_vehicles_shuts_la_facility/s-0056909.html NantBioScience Ties With University of Colorado ---- Los Angeles-based NantBioScience, one of the companies out of the NantWorks family of companies founded by billionaire Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, said this morning that it has tied with the University of Colorado on developing a protein cancer fighting drug. According to NantBioScience, it is in a research collaboration and an exclusive worldwide licensing agreement with the University of Colorado for the development and commercialization of anti-cancer agents. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. The two said that both the University of Colorado and NantBioScience will be conducting research activities together. Sotera Wireless Names Sales, Marketing VP ---- San Diego-based Sotera Wireless, which develops wireless vital signs monitoring devices, said today that it has named Charlie Alvarez as thec ompany's new Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Alvarez was most recently EVP of Sales and Marketing at SleepMed, and also has served at Watermark, PSS/World Medical (now McKesson Corporation), and CardioNet. Broadcom Rolls New 100GbE PHYs ---- Irvine-based Broadcom said today that it has rolled out a new family of multi-rate 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) gearbox physical layer transceiver (PHY) chips, specifically for cloud data centers. Santa Monica-based Favrit said this week that it has launched its new app, which helps people save, organize, and share their favorite places. The startup is led by Anke Audenaert, and said its team was behind JumpTime, a content optimization software product that was sold to OpenX in 2013. Founder and CEO Elon Musk said this week that he doesn't have any intention of taking SpaceX public, because the "goals of SpaceX are very long-term, which is to establish a city on Mars." According to the company, the funding was led by Matrix Partners and NetEase, with other investors, including Vectr Ventures, Russ Meyer (Grandpoint Capital); Bam Ventures; and LaunchpadLA. The startup offers up an online, peer-to-peer lending platform which lets users invest and borrow money to invest in commercial real estate deals. The startup is led by David Manshoory. According to the University, Iribe's gift will go towards the new Brendan Iribe Center for Computer Science and Innovation. The gift is the largest, ever, in the University's history. $1M of that donation will go to fund the Brendan Iribe Scholarship in Computer Science.
