Tinder Approaching 50M Active Users, Says Report
----
Los Angeles-based mobile dating app developer Tinder is rapidly
approaching 50 million active users, who are spending an average of 90
minutes a day on the service, according to a report. The NYTimes
report cited a "person with knowledge of the situation" in the
numbers. Apparently, users are logging into the app 11 times a day,
with women spending around 8.5 minutes per session, and men spending
7.2 minutes per session swiping left and right.

Social Reality Raises $25M, Acquires Steel Media
----
Los Angeles-based digital advertising technology developer Social
Reality said this morning that it has raised $25M, and acquired
display and mobile ad company Steel Media. Social Reality--which is
traded OTCBB--said the $25M came in the form of a $20M credit facility
from victory Park Capital, and $5M in equity from Siskey Capital LLC.
Terms of the Steel Media acquisition were not disclosed, however, the
company said Steel Media expected $10M in 2014 revenues.

Kurion Wins $10M Grant
----
Irvine-based hazardous waste removal technology developer Kurion said
this morning that it has won a $10 million grant from Japan's Ministry
of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), as part of a demonstration of
technology for removal of tritium from Fukushima. (More...)

MaxLinear Hits Shipment Milestone
----
Carslbad-based MaxLinear reported this morning that it has hit a
shipment milestone, and has shipped more than 10 million of its DVB-2
tuners to the market so far. The company's chip is used in the design
of set-top boxes. MaxLinear is a developer of radio frequency (RF) and
mixed signal integrated circuits. MaxLinear said the shipments came
due to strong demand in markets using the DVB-T2 standard, including
in western and eastern Europe, Russia and Southeast Asia (Thailand,
Indonesia) and Africa.

Omnitracs Completes XRS Corporation Buy
----
San Diego-based Omnitracs, which develops fleet management products
for transportation and logistics companies, said today that it has
completed its acquisition of XRS Corporation. The deal was worth
approximately $178M. Omnitracs said the buy will help strengthen its
core technology portfolio.

Virgin Galactic Spacecraft Crashes, Kills One
----
In a major blow to Southern California's nascent space tourism
industry, Virgin Galactic's  SpaceShipTwo crashed in testing over the
Mojave desert Friday afternoon, killing one person.  Virgin Galactic
said the crash came after a "serious anomaly" during testing. Virgin
Galactic said that the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB)
would be arriving in Mojave on Saturday morning to investigate the
crash. George Whitesides, CEO of Virgin Galactic, released a statement
saying that "Space is hard and today was a tough day," explaining that
the company was doing all it could for the crew and family. The crash
comes only two days after a major, catastrophic launch failure of a
rocket from Orbital Sciences in Virginia.

Fandango Dangles Chance At A Real Flight To Space
----
Looking for your chance to make it into space? Los Angeles-based movie
ticketing and information site Fandango said Friday that it is giving
away the chance at a flight to space for film fans, as part of a
promotion for the new film "INTERSTELLAR". According to Fandango,
people who purchase a movie ticket to the movie using its service will
be entered into a contest to win a trip to space on XCOR's Lynx Mark
II spacecraft. The prize is worth $100,000. INTERSTELLAR features
actors Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain.
Fandango said the prize comes through a combination of andango,
Paramount Pictures, XCOR, and online channel VICE. The sweepstakes is
open until December 1st.
