Sourec of the funding was not announced. In addition to the equity funding, Patara said it has also received a loan from Silicon Valley Bank of up to $7M. Patara's lead candidate is being aimed at treating refractory chronic cough and indolent systemic mastocytosis, particularly patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). http://www.socaltech.com/intelligence/?action=showdeal&id=68153 Clearlake Capital Buys Syncsort ---- Santa Monica-based private equity investor Clearlake Capital Group announced htis morning that it is buying Syncsort, a new Jersey-based developer of big data, data migration, and other tools. Financial terms of the acquisition were not anounced by the companies. Syncsort was headquartered in Woodcliff Lake, NJ, and is over 40 years old, but has a significant number of Big Data products based on Apache Hadoop, Splunk, Apache Spark, and the cloud, in addition to software for the IBM z Systems mainframe platform. Syncsort was backed by Insight Venture Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners, Georgian Partners, and others. Behdad Eghbali, Prashant Mehrotra, and Paul Huber, all of Clearlake Capital, join Synsort's board of directors in the deal. Qualcomm Sells Vuforia To PTC ---- San Diego-based Qualcomm said this morning that it is selling its Vuforia Internet-of-Things (IoT) business to PTC. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The two said that PTC will acquire Vuforia and its developer ecosystem. Vuforia develops mobile vision and augmented reality software, and was created at Qualcomm five years ago. Ixia Rolls Out New Network Security Product ---- Calabasas-based Ixia said this morning that it is expanding out its lineup of products for the cybersecurity market, with a new product called ThreatARMOR. According to the company, the new product is aimed at enterprise networks, and specifically blocks known bad traffic from malicious IPs, hijacked IPs, and unassigned or unused IP spaces and addresses, all at line speed. In addition, the tool also helps identify and stop internal, infected devices from connecting with known botnet servers, as well as blocking traffic from countries which are likely to have no valid reason to access a company's network. Ixia said the new product lists at $19,995 plus $2,995 for a subscription to application and threat intelligence data. Vubiq Networks Rolls Out Wireless Gigabit Ethernet Product ---- Irvine-based Vubiq Networks, a developer of Gigabit Ethernet, wireless link systems which use the unlicensed 60 Ghz millimeter wave radio band, has launched a new product. According to Vubiq, it has launched its HaulPass V60 Wireless Gigabit Ethernet link, which has a 50 percent in increase in range over its prior product, to 750 meters, and made it easier to install. The company's product is intended to be installed outdoors in urban areas, for such things as extending corporate Gigabit Ethernet networks, for wireless metropolitan area networks, and for 4G/LTE mobile network backhaul. Vubiq is led by Ed Snyder. FilmTrack Finds $10M In Debt Funding ---- Studio City-based FilmTrack, which develops rights and content management software for the entertainment industry, has raised $10M in a debt funding round, the company said this week. The funding comes fom Wellington Financial and Silicon Valley Bank. FilmTrack's investors include Insight Venture Partners and the Sandberg-Goldenberg Trust. According to the company, its customers now include CBS, HBO, DreamWorks Animation, Endemol, National Geographic, eOne and Miramax. FilmTrack is led by Jason Kassin. http://www.socaltech.com/filmtrack_finds___m_in_debt_funding/s-0062320.html Amgen Gets Exit At Adheron Therapeutics ---- Thousand Oaks-based Amgen has seen an exit out of its startup investment portfolio, and activities of its Amgen Ventures venture capital arm, at Berkeley-based Adheron Therapeutics this morning. Adheron said that it has been acquired by Roche, in a deal worth $105M upfront and up to $475M in additional milestone payments. Adheron is developing technology that disrupts immune cell adhesion, which is being applied to treatments for inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis.
