(More...) http://www.socaltech.com/hellotech_merges_with_geekatoo/s-0065452.html KingTing Tech Rolls Out Smart Home Products ---- Irvine-based KingTing Tech, an electronics startup which has its R&D team in Irvine, but primarily sells to the Chinese marketplace, said it has launched a new set of smart home devices, including a smart home hub, sprinkler, thermostat, and "smart" outlet, all under the YoSmart brand name. The company said its devices--which use the LoRa wireless standard--include a smart thermostat which automatically adjusts the temperature of your home; a "smart socket" which can remotely turn on electronic devices, and a sprinkler which lets user adjust their watering schedule or access real time weather reports to adjust irrigation patterns. All of those devices run on a YoSmart Hub, which uses the LoRa standard to control devices as far away as 1,600 feet. Rubicon Project Joins New Ad Quality Effort ---- Los Angeles-based advertising marketplace operator Rubicon Project announced this morning that it has joined in a new, advertising quality effort, call the "Certified Against Fraud" program run by the Trustworthy Accountability Group (TAG). According to Rubicon Project, the move is an industry initiative to fight criminal activity in the digital advertising supply chain, and includes a "rigorous" set of requirements for ad buyers, sellers, and intermediaries. The requirements include that the company have a "Chief Compliance Officer", have procedures for IP and data center filtering, among other requirements. Rubicon Project said it is a founding board member for the new effort. Secureonix Expands In India ---- Los Angeles-based security software developer Secureonix said today that it has expanded in Southeast Asia, with a new office in Bangalore, India. The company develops ready-to-cook meals via subscription, which are aimed at feeding two people, without any time consuming prep work, and were designed by chefs. The company already has been providing same day delivery in Los Angeles and a number of other markets. The company also said it has launched a weekly subscription service called "Plaid Box", providing its meals to consumers across California, and not just in its same day delivery markets. Mirrors Briefly Set Solar Power Plant On Fire In Mojave ---- Mis-aligned mirrors at a solar power plant in the Mojave desert caused a brief fire, resulting in lost output from the Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System. The solar power plant--run by NRG Energy and Brightsource Energy--apparently reported a fire around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday. The plant is near Primm, Nevada. San Bernardino County Fire said misaligned mirrors apparently caused electrical cables to catch fire at the plant, although the fire was out in less than 20 minutes, before firefighters arrived at the scene.
