According to Esri, it has partnered with the National Geographic Society, on tools that help U.S. communities map out open space, wildlife habitats, parks, and other natural areas, to help them identify, protect, and connect those spaces. Esri said the core of that new effort is a national map which depicts every intact natural area greater than 100 acres, regardless of ownership or preservation status. http://www.socaltech.com/esri_rolls_out_green_infrastructure_mapping_effort/s-0066011.html Frequency Names President ---- Los Angeles-based video distribution platform developer Frequency announced this morning that it has named Ian Aaron as its new President, to oversee global distribution, content licensing and business development for the company. Aaron has previously served as President of Gemstar TV Guide Inernational, and also served as CEO of TVN Entertainment. He has been an advisor to the company since it first started. Frequency aggregates and distributes videos from a wide range of TV stations, multi-channel networks (MCNs), and others, and is led by Blair Harrison. Chrome River Wins Sabre ---- Los Angeles-based invoice and expense management software provider Chrome River announced today that travel giant Sabre has selected the company's software for global deployment. According to Chrome River, Sabre will deploy Chrome River's expense and invoice processing software to almost 10,000 employees across 29 countries. Financial impact of the win was not announced. Chrome River is led by Alan Rich. Medsphere Systems Merges With ChartLogic ---- Carlsbad-based Medsphere Systems, the developer of open source electronic medical and health records software, is merging with another software provider, ChartLogic, the two said today. Financial details of the merger were not announced by the companies. ChartLogic, which is based in Salt Lake City, Utah, also develops electronics health records (EHR) software. The two said ChartLogic will become a separate division of Medsphere, and continue to operate under its own name. Green Dot Gets Unwelcome Eye Of Senators After Debit Card Failures ---- Monrovia-based Green Dot, along with its partners, Walmart and Mastercard, are facing some unwelcome scrutiny from the Senate Banking Committee, after widespread issues last month getting access to money stored on their prepaid Mastercards. According to the NYTimes, the committee is looking into if there needs to be more consumer protections around the debit cards, which have become hugely popular with low income consumers, who do not have checking or savings accounts. Those debits cards are now being used by those users for their day-to-day needs, including paying for utilities, food, rent, and other expenses. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed. Bridg said it is helping the pizza chain with its precision marketing efforts. Bridg uses data from point-of-sale systems, loyalty programs, and online ordering systems to help companies better market to and segment their customers, to help increase business from those customers.
