The funding came from DFJ Growth, Goldman Sachs Investment Partners and Qualcomm Ventures, plus Sir Richard Branson, American Family Insurance, Shea Ventures and True Ventures, and others. Ring, led by Jamie Siminoff, has now raised over $209M in funding. Ring got its start as Doorbot, and grew due to an appearance by Siminoff--already a serial entrepreneur with a track record here in Southern California--on Shark Tank. AutoGravity says its service is now available to consumers in 46 states, providing personalized loan and lease offers for buyers when they are shopping for a automobile, before they visit a dealership. AutoGravity's founder and CEO is Andy Hinrichs. The company has been offering up its car financing marketplace in California since December. AutoGravity did not say which four states it does not yet offe rup its smartphone app and marketplace in. Google Lunar XPRIZE Names Five Remaining Teams, Hands Out $1M ---- Los Angeles-based XPRIZE and Google announced the fiveremaining teams in the Google Lunar XPRIZE effort on Tuesday, saying that it will split $1M among those teams, as they move forward to launching their unmanned spacecraft to the moon. Google said that SpaceIL (Israel), Moon Express (USA), Synergy Moon (international), TeamIndus (India) and HAKUTO (Japan) have all signed verified launch contracts to land their unmanned spacecraft on the surface of the Moon. To make it to the next step in the $30M contest, those teams must launch their vehicles into space by December 31, 2017. Proficio Names CMO ---- Carlsbad-based Proficio, a managed security provider (MSP), said Tuesday that it has named Dustin Ritter as the company's Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Ritter was previously CMO at Resolve Systems. Ritter also has served at Trackforce and MarcomCentral, among other companies. The company said Ritter will oversee global expansion initiatives at the company. Proficio is backed by $12M in funding by Kayne Capital. VRMedia Takes Aim At Virtual Reality Software, Hardware ---- Los Angeles- and Austin-based VRMedia Technology said on yesterday that it has launched, as a joint venture between MC Capital Advisors/Media Content Capital, and virtual reality and computer graphics filmmaker Greg Passmore, and his company, PassmoreVR. Rodin says is it building an engine that enables developers to create VR apps using just Javascript and deploy those apps to all major VR platforms in a single click. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. The deal was announced last week. Accrive Diagnostics was owned by private equity investor Warburg Pincus. Accrive Diagnostics develops medical equipment, used for platelet function analysis, clotting time testing, and other testing used during cardiac and vascular procedures, in addition to use in hospital laboratories.
