The Preccelerator Program, a Santa Monica, California-based early-stage
startup accelerator focused on digital media companies, is moving its Santa
Monica offices as a result of its growth as it adds its milestone tenth

San Diego-based Senomyx, a developer of artificial flavoring ingredients
and sweeteners for the beverage and food market, has been acquired by
Switzerland's Firmenich, in a deal worth approximately $72.5M. According to
the two companies, Firmenich will acquire all of the outstanding common
stock of SEnomyx for $1.50 per share in cash. The deal is an approximately
43 percent premium over the closing price of Senomyx on September 14th. (

Elon Musk, the CEO and founder of SpaceX, has released artist's renditions
of the upcoming "BFR" rocket, which the company is designing to take
astronauts and passengers to space. SpaceX has said that 347 foot long BFR
is designed to take up to 100 people into space at once, housed in 40
cabins--and is ultimately designed to take mankind to Mars. SpaceX is set
to announced the name of a passenger that has paid for a trip around the

The United Launch Alliance launched its last Delta II rocket mission on
Saturday morning from Vandenberg Air Force Base, north of Los Angeles, in a
launch visible to much of the Los Angeles area. The launch--the final
mission of the ULA's Delta II--sent a new satellite into space for NASA,
the Ice, Cloud and land Elevation Satellite-2 (ICESat-2) spacecraft. ULA
sent the rocket into space at 6:02 a.m. PDT. ULA's Delta II rocket first

Fandango has just received a win in court, after a California federal judge
ruled in the company's favor in a patent invalidation case against Japanese
company Maxwell, Ltd. Fandango had been seeking to invalidate three patents
held by Maxwell over allowing access to movie and television shows for a
set rental period. The patent suit, Maxwell, Ltd. v. Fandango Media, LLC,

*Hytera Scuffles With Motorola In Court*

Irvine-based digital mobile radio (DMR) developer Hytera is scuffling with
Motorola Solutions in court, saying on Friday that it has filed a "motion
to dismiss" in the Federal District Court in Illinois, over a copyright
infringement claim against the company. Motorola had sued Hytera--which is
based in China but has its U.S. headquarters in Irvine--over multiple
patent infringement claims. An ITC judge ruled in July that Hytera had
