May 11, Pasadena -- *Caltech Entrepreneurs Forum - Robotics*
Caltech Entrepreneurs Forum - Robotics. The past few years have seen
significant improvements in ease of adoption of robots with the
introduction of collaborative robots, low-cost easy-to-use drones, and
level 3 autonomous vehicles. In parallel, low-cost 3D machine vision
systems and widely available deep learning AI toolsets have been adopted in
the enterprise. The next wave of robotics will be driven by the integration
of these 3 technologies to reduce the cost and time-to-market of robotic
systems by an order of magnitude or more. This in turn is changing the
business model enabling solutions like robots-as-a-service or
build-to-order robots. See http://www.socaltech.com/calendar/eventid/26448

*R.E.D Talk: The Future of the Supply Chain in LA County* R.E.D Talk: The
Future of the Supply Chain in LA County.
LAEDC. The Future of the Supply Chain in LA County: How Big Data and IoT
are streamlining businesses for success. The success of a business and its
supply chain is increasingly determined by the business’s ability to react
quickly to market forces and make smart decisions based on hard data.
That’s obvious—what’s less obvious is how to do this. For the past decade
or so, large businesses have been obsessed with collecting and storing data
about their customers, their own internal processes, external market
information and so on. The problem is that many businesses have found
themselves paralyzed by the amount of data they have collected. And, it’s
not enough to simply collect data—it’s important to formulate questions the
data can solve. To do that, these businesses need to invest in the analysis
of data. That means hiring data scientists and investing in advanced
business intelligence tools, so they can gain a competitive edge. See
