Culver City-based Talespin, a developer of virtual reality technology, has
raised $15M in a Series B funding round, the company said this morning. The
funding was led by Cornerstone OnDemand, and also included Farmers
Insurance Exchange and HTC. Talespin develops virtual reality software used
for employee training and other efforts. The company said it will use the
funding to expand its solution into other fields, including insurance,

*Miramar Digital Ventures Targets New $100M Fund*

Corona Del Mar-based Miramar Digital Ventures is in the midst of raising a
new, $100M venture capital fund, according to a filing from the firm this
week. According to the regulatory filing, the firm has raised $68.75M from
14 investors as part of an ongoing fundraising for the firm's second fund,
Miramar Digital Ventures II, L.P., in what appears to be the first close on
the fund. Miramar Ventures is led by Bruce Hallett and Sherman Atkinson. (

*Transphorm Takes $21.5M In Funding, Enters Into Reverse Merger*

Goleta-based Transphorm, which develops gallium nitride (GaN)
semiconductors for power conversion, said today that it has raised $21.5M
in an equity financing, and also entered into a reverse merger with an
entity called Peninsula Acquisition Corporation. According to Transphorm,
following the merger, Peninsula changed its name to Transphorm, Inc., and

*Citadel Defense Wins $9.2M Order For Drone Defense*

San Diego-based Citidal Defense, a developer of systems for detecting and
defending against unauthorized drones, says it has received a $9.2M order
for its systems, the company said this morning. Citadel Defense did not
provide details on the customers for its system, which it says provides
force protection against unmanned aerial drones and swarms. The company
says it uses radio frequency detection, and Ai and deep learning, for

*CIM Group Start Construction On 2.7 Gigawatt Solar Park*

Los Angeles-based CIM Group, a real estate developer, says it has started
on construction of what will be one of the largest permitted solar parks in
the world. According to the company, the company's new development, in
western Fresno and Kings Counties, could grow to be as large as more than

Santa Monica-based Ylopo, which provides digital marketing software for the
real estate industry, says it has released a new online advertising tool,
which automatically generates and publishes web-ready video content for the
real estate industry. The company said its new tool is aimed ath automatic
video and Facebook ad publishing for property marketing, agent branding,
and brokerage recruiting. Pricing on the new tool was not announced. Ylopo
