San Diego-based ADARx Pharmaceuticals has raised $46M in a Series B-1
funding, the company said on Friday. The funding was led by Ascenta
Capital, and also included OrbiMed Advisors, SR One Capital Management,
Lilly Asia Ventures, and Sirona Capital. As part of the funding, Ascenta

*Riot Games Delays Releases After Security Breach*

Santa Monica-based Riot Games says it has delayed its release schedule
after a security breach last week. According to Riot Games, systems in its
development environment were "compromised via a social engineering attack".
The company said that--so far--there is "no indication that player data or
personal information was obtained". However, Riot Games said the security
breach has affected its ability to release content, and that the breach
will impact its upcoming patches across multiple games. (More...

*Topanga.io Gets Win At Grubhub*

Los Angeles-based Topanga.io, a startup developing packaging
track-and-trace technology, has scored a win with food ordering and
delivery company Grubhub. According to Grubhub, it has partnered with
Topanga.io to provide "integrated zero-waste takeout services" on college
campuses across the United States, via Topanga.io. Grubhub said meals at
college campuses--initially, just The Ohio State University and Colorado
State University--will be packaged in reusable containers, using Topanga. (

*Google Chops Employees, Impact In LA Unclear*

Google joined the list of big tech companies laying off staff on Friday,
saying that it is eliminating approximately 12,000 people from the company.
The company--which has significant operations in Los Angeles--did not say
how many people would be impacted in the Los Angeles area. Google blamed "a
different economic reality" from the past two years, when the company said

*California: Zero Emissions Vehicles Made Up 19 Percent Of Car Sales In

The *State of California* said that it has determined that 18.8 percent of
all new cars sold last year in California were zero emissions vehicles
(ZEVs), with 40 perecent of all of those vehicles sold in the U.S. being
sold in the state. According to the state, there were 345,818 zero
emissions vehicles sold in California in 2022, up 38 percent from 2021, and

*PLAI Labs Scores $32M Seed Funding For AI, NFT Games*

Los Angeles-based PLAI Labs, a new startup founded by former MySpace and
Jam City founders Chris DeWolfe and Aber Whitcomb, said on Thursday that it
has raised $32M in a seed funding round. The round was led by a16z
(fromerly Andreessen Horowitz). The company said it is using a combination
of artificial intelligence (AI) and crypto to create a new company focused
