An anti-Tesla group--headed by the CEO of a Santa Barbara area high tech
company--put out a 30 second ad on the Super Bowl on Sunday, alleging that
Tesla's Full Self Driving (FSD) mode will "run down a child in a school
crosswalk, swerve into oncoming traffic, hit a baby in a stroller, go
straight past stopped school buses, ignore 'do not enter' signs, and even

*Cinedigm Partners With ROW8 For Rentals*

Los Angeles-based online streaming provider Cinedigm says it has partnered
with ROW8 to add new, rentable theatrical titles on its Cineverse service.
According to the company, the partnership lets customers rent recently
released premium movies, video video-on-demand. ROW8 provides recent
Hollywood movies before they are released on subscription streaming

Aliso Viejo-based indie Semiconductor, which develop software for the auto
industry, said last week that it has acquired GEO Semiconductor. GEO is a
developer of video processors for automotive cameras. indie said it will
pay $180M for GEO Semiconductor, split between $90M in cash plus stock,
with additional earnout possible. indie said the deal will help it extend
its sensor portfolio to include radar, LiDAR, ultrasound, and computer

*SpaceX Takes Issue With Ukrainian Use Of Starlink For Drones*

Hawthorne-based SpaceX has been restricting Internet use by the country of
Ukraine, specifically blocking the use of its Starlink satellite-based
network for controlling military drones. According to Starlink chief Gwynne
Shotwell, the company does not want its platform to be used for "offensive
purposes", and that is already limiting Ukraine's use of Starlink for

San Diego-based *Fabric8Labs <https://www.fabric8labs.com>*, which is
developing electrochemical additive manufacturing technology, said this
week that it raised $50M in a Series B funding. The funding was led by New
Enterprise Associates (NEA), and also included Intel Capital, imec.XPAND,
SE Ventures, TDK Ventures, and Lam Capital. The company said the funds will

*CerraCap Ventures Backs Israeli Disease Detection Startup*

Costa Mesa-based CerraCap Ventures said today that it has backed an Israeli
startup, Predicta Med, which is developing autoimmune disease detection
technology based in artificial intelligence. Financial details of the

services, says it has released two new products aimed at the small

*Disney Cuts 7,000 Jobs, Cuts Back Spending*

Burbank-based Disney said on Wednesday that it is cutting 7,000 jobs, and
reducing spending, with plans to cut $5.5 billion in costs. Both moves have
typically impacted Southern California's technology industry, with cuts in
the past both negatively impacting local technology companies and startups
dependent on Disney's spending, but also often making it easier for those
same companies to recruit employees. The moves are the first major move by
