New reports this morning say that hackers who took over a number of
computer systems at Western Digital are demanding "minimum 8 figures" in
ransom in order to not publish stolen data from the company. The
hack--appears to have not just affected the company's "WD My Cloud"
service, but the company's internal systems, including their email,
code-signing certificate, internal files, and WD's SAP systems. Western

*Alteryx Ventures Backs Fiddler*

Irvine-based Alteryx, which develops cloud analytics software, said today
that its venture arm, Alteryx Ventures, has made a strategic investment in
Fiddler, a company developing AI and machine learning tools. Size of the
investment was not announced. Fiddler is developing enterprise, machine
learning tools aimed at improving enterprise operations. According to

Los Angeles-based Altruist, which develops software for registered
investment advisors (RIA), has raised $112M in a Series D funding, the
company said on Wednesday. The funding was led by Insight Partners, and
also included Adam Street Partners, along with existing investors
Declaration Partners, Venrock, and Vanguard. The company also said industry
angels Bill McNabb, Ron Carson, and Marty Bicknell also participated in the

*Slingshot Aerospace Extends Sensor Network*

El Segundo, California- and Austin, Texas-based satellite tracking system
developer Slingshot Aerospace says it has extended its sensor network, and
now has more than 200 sensors across 20 sites tracking low earth orbit
(LEO) objects in space. The company's optical sensors are used to help
determine where satellites and space junk might be orbiting the earth, in

*Slickdeals: Most Americans Feel Secure On Banking*

Los Angeles-based coupons- and deal-tracking website Slickdeals says that
most Americans--despite the recent tech banking failures--are secure with
their bank. According to the company, its survey, conducted by Suzy, found
fifty-three percent of Americans feel "very secure" with their bank, and
only 6 percent feel "insecure" about their bank. The company said it
developed the survey, which talked to 1,300 U.S. adults. The company did

*Upfront's Fuller Debuts Enterprise Software Community*

has rolled out a new "framework" aimed at helping to identify the traits

Azusa-based Ferla Bikes said today that it has rolled out a new, electric
cargo bike it calls the Lagom. According to the company, its cargo bike is
aimed at "greener urban living", and is aimed at families, commuters, and

"conscious-driven urban city millennials that are choosing different

SecureAuth said this morning that it has named two new executives at the
company. According to SecureAuth, it has named Kelly Wenzel as Chief

Levine Leichtman has acquired another company. According to the firm,
