Hello all, I'm curious as to what happened to the LA Wireless Research Network-- it seemed like it got some momentum, then just disappeared!
It was mentioned at the last meeting that it could be put forth as a WiMAX testbed network, which seems really exciting. That'd be neat, being the first ones in the world to have -real- equipment in the US... In the meantime, a couple of good friends and I have been working on a really small network just for fun: http://hazuki.wsyntax.com Right now we don't have that much equipment, so we're just going with virtual (VPN-style) links. We've got the basic infrastructure in place, though (routing, IP allocations, *, mail, DNS, all the goodies), and it'll be really cool once we get those links replaced with wireless ones. (Most of the literature on that site's random propoganda stuff put together, we're still documenting the network on the technical side...) Unfortunately we're also really inexperienced (I've never before assembled any of these things, and the choice of Linksys for router hardware now makes me laugh), so we'd appreciate any tips or tricks you guys could give us. - Raymond Jimenez -- Raymond ("Cyanoacry") Jimenez <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> http://shia.wsyntax.com <> [EMAIL PROTECTED] GPG Key ID: 0x295652FE GPG Public Key: http://shia.wsyntax.com/pgp/Raymond_Jimenez.asc --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "SOCALWUG" group.
