I used Connexion by Boeing on Lufthansa flight (Frankfurt to LAX):

I blogged some LIVE pics (mobile blogging to Textamerica.com) as we
flew over Greenland. I thought Lufthansa was really "with it" (by
getting Connexion), & Frankfurt Int'l airport had 2 WiFi hotspots
(T-Mobile, which I used & Voda, which my Estonian friend figured out a
workaround for upload):

I was amazed during my travels around Egypt (Cairo to western Egypt to
a small border town Sallum, back thru Cairo to Dahab on the Red Sea),
that there was Internet connectivity so I could Blog my whole trip.
(see above 2 URLs). The $10/night hotel in Cairo had "free" DSL
Internet access, I blogged using dial-up in Marsa-Matrouh & Sallum
("free", only paid for the telephone call), Internet Cafe in
Marsa-Matrouh (http://solareclipse.textamerica.com/?_ctgry=23120),
Internet Cafe in Sallum (shared dialup!? Man, was it slow!
http://solareclipse.textamerica.com/?r=4517509&_ctgry=22897, it was a
hole-in-the-wall location in a dark side-street), Internet Cafe in
Dahab (http://solareclipse.textamerica.com/?_ctgry=23123). BTW, there
was a "terrorist bombing" in Dahab 3 weeks after I left, so the area I
was in (restaurant along the beach) was where the "body parts were
flung into the sea". I imagine some of those people I met (Egyptian
kids & restauranteurs) got caught up in that insanity.

I blogged with my wireless-card equipped laptop from LAX, just before I
left (http://solareclipse.textamerica.com/?_ctgry=22898). I met a
couple of gals going to Egypt (UC Berkeley Sociology major & SF area
eclipse chaser), & exchanged emails while in Egypt. My GSM (Cingular)
phone worked perfectly in Egypt, & it was extremely vital: my 4x4
driver sent me text-messages & I could call for help (back to Cairo)
when our Landcruiser broke down. Man, it was looking bad right about
then!!

Next time I will be equipped with a portable satellite-antenna
(omni-directional), so I can LiveWebCast the solar eclipse. The
Japanese are leaders in this area, there were LiveWebCast eclipse stuff
by them (& others). I have an Iridium sat-phone w/data-package, but
it's 2400bps & prohibitively expensive ($2/min). No go.
