waiting on the revolution...

at OSCON, they had a user/'BOF' session on the OpenMoko phone... to
which John Philips, the presenter, did not show up.

After waiting 20 minutes, the group seemed relegated to checking out
the OpenMoko emulator on this guy's IBM laptop who was wearing a black
"Free Your Phone" t-shirt. Then Sean Savage- of TVLinux.org-
arrived. He brought and tried to return an OpenMoko phone which was
featured on his cable access program to Mr. Philips .

Unfortunately, the battery was dead, but hopefully the revolution is
not. Yet, the OpenMoko phone is seriously light. Lighter than a Razr
it felt like. The screen size is not as large as the I-Phone. Yes,
someone brought an I-Phone... I must admit it has some 'Wow" features
to it.

I'm curious to see if the 'free' phone will have been worth the wait.

Oh yeah, the portland personaltelco people were at OSCON as well. It
was pretty cool meeting some of the people that are mentioned in Wi-Fi
Toys. They seemed really cool and knowledgeable.
