That's what I've heard. I've actually stopped people on the street who I've seen with them and I get the same complaint over and over again, plus it seems a little weird as a phone... which I wouldn't mind if it had bluetooth because then I could get one of those fancy earsets!

The bummer about tmobile sidekick is the service quality throughout LA. Tmobile borrows service from cingular. And according to a cingular rep I spoke to, they are only guaranteed something like 20% of capacity, with priority going to cingular customers.

I've found spotty data service, and frequent dropped calls. So much so that I use the sidekick for hiptop email, aim, & texting. But my old ATT Wireless nokia phone for voice.

It's supposed to be better in other areas of the country. But socal isn't built out yet.

That being said, I am writing this email from my sidekick. And I expect you will get it within 10 minutes.

Ps: I wrote a quick review about the sidekick at www.socalwug.org/reviews.htm

You might be interested in the T-Mobile Sidekick AKA Danger Hiptop

I've had a Sidekick since it was launched in Oct. 2002. A color
version is expected some type this year.

Has "oodles" of info on anything you may ever want to know about the

I'm using cingular and the service is great, no complaints on that
at all. The problem is that on the TREOs, specifically the 180 that I
have the wiring to the speaker is SHODDY and it breaks all the time.
treo message boards are full of complaints about this and it's to the
point now where you call, say the speaker went out and they just send
you a new one. Basically after you open and close it a bunch the wire
comes off inside and you can't hear anything, real great for a phone...
