[Here is the intro to another WiFi hotspot locator service. This one seems
to focus on free hotspots. And it doesn't appear to use the Boingo database
(like so many others.) -Mike O.]

resource!)

Red Dot Spots is an open database information community of free Wi-Fi hot
spots. All entries to the database are contributed by users and site
operators. The database is designed to solve the growing problem of locating
FREE wireless internet access spots. Many coffee shops, restaurants, hotels
and commercial properties are offering free internet access to its customers
as a value added service but do not have a standard for promoting this free
service. Many locations offer pay Wi-Fi services for monthly subscriptions
and/or daily fees. However, we think access should be FREE and are building
a grass-roots community to promote these locations. Please read about the
the Red Dot for how you can help us build this standard . . .

About The Red Dot

Free wireless Internet access spots can be difficult to find without a
clearly identifiable logo or image. We are asking all locations offering
free Internet access to post a small sign of one of these examples
RedDotSpot (click to print) or a Red Dot (click to print) visible to
customers to clearly mark free Wi-Fi access.
