Actually, DirecTV offers internet access through a satellite uplink and
downlink. It's called DirecWay.

In fact, KVH uses the DirecWay (aka Hughes DirecPC) service for their
on-boat internet.

DirecTV stopped offering their hard-wired *DSL* internet service some time
ago. That has caused some confusion.

The challenge for offering a mobile internet connection via satellite is the
uplink signal. You need a strong signal to feed up to the satellite. So
the 4-inch phased-array antenna doesn't seem like it would handle the
signal. I bet KVH is working on it though.

In the meantime, use one of these for in-car internet:

I know that DirecTV stopped offering internet service,
but it would be sweet if this type of install would
get you mobile internet connectivity too.
