Busy week at SOCALWUG! 1. Tuesday: Project SIG building stuff 2. Thursday: SOCALWUG meeting with ZyXEL 3. Saturday: SOCALWUG at So Cal Linux Expo (SCALE) with a booth and WiFi
======================================================================== SOCALWUG is amping up the meeting schedule for the WiFi Project SIG. I am hosting a get together at the TransStellar office in Agoura tonight, Tuesday, November 18th at 6:00pm on til about 9:00pm (except when there is a regular SOCALWUG meeting!) This is not a "Regular" SOCALWUG meeting with a planned presentation. This is hands-on work where one or two folks will build something and show the rest of us how to do it. Let's call this a WiFi Project SIG meeting. Think way back to the first days of SOCALWUG. Or watch the first few videos. The meetings were held in this office. So if you made it to one of the first meetings, you know where it is already. We'll be building a Cantenna and building and planning some future projects: 1. making a cantenna 2. home made laptop antennas 3. add-on Access Point antennas 4. building an outdoor access point 5. solar powered repeater The planning will include parts lists and tools. I will be purchasing the big ticket stuff before the next meetings like the solar panel, outdoor enclosure, etc. I will attempt to make this a frequent meeting. Some of these lab meetings may be on the weekend or during the day on weekdays. (Especially the outdoor Solar AP stuff :) I will post updates about it to the SOCALWUG discussion list. (Subscribe to the Discussion List at www.socalwug.org) If you have any parts for a cantenna, or any finished projects like a Pringles can or Beancan antenna, please bring them along. I'd like to document how to build these and take digicam pix and video for posterity, an upcoming book, SeattleWireless TV, and LPBN. I'll spring for Pizza and drinks.
