A group in New Zealand did a treasure hunt last weekend using Wireless Access Points.
See their writeup and digipix here: http://www.nzwireless.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=132 They got me thinking more abut what kinds of games you could do with an AP and a few hours to kill. If you can come up with anything like this, let's discuss. I would like to have an AP Games day for SOCALWUG. 1. Hunt down a single access point in a small area (say an apartment building) 2. Hunt down a battery powered AP (can be hiding in the park, bushes, offroad, someones locker, etc.) 3. Treasure Hunt a group of Aps (each AP somehow directs you to the next one.) a) SSID gives a map grid coordinate? (a la nzwireless.org) b) SSID gives a location name, phone number, or? c) Open a local webpage to read a riddle, solve a puzzle, or? 4. Seed an area with multiple APs and whoever finds them all wins. 5. Wardrive for the largest number of APs in a set time (a la Defcon) Can you think of any to add? Let's discuss on the list. -Mike O. -- Mike Outmesguine President, TransStellar, Inc.
