They are: IEEE 802.11g, - Physical Layer project to extend the data rates to 54Mbps operating in the 2.4GHz frequency band and IEEE 802.1h which focuses on the spectrum and power management for IEEE 802.11a operation in the 5GHz spectrum world-wide and IEEE 802.11f inter-access point protocol (IAPP). The working group is working towards ratification on other projects under development such as IEEE 802.11e quality of service (QoS), IEEE 802.11i Security - Advanced encryption methods. Other projects under development include IEEE 802.11k radio resource measurement enhancements and IEEE 802.11n high throughput amendment to the Physical and MAC layer specifications to achieve data rates greater than 54Mbps. This presentation examines key features and specifications and highlights the progress for each of the projects under development.
