The last few days I've found that Starbucks has been a very nice location
to park my laptop between client meetings and on the day's when I'm not
all that busy. They're everywhere and most all of them have wireless
access. Yesterday I purchased a day pass for the first time. This was the
first time I paid to use an 802.11b connection. I've used several of the
free hotspots in LA and others while traveling.

Right now I'm sitting in a Starbucks in downtown LA (yes, I took the
train), but I'm not using the Tmobile hotspot. Why? Well, I'm only here
for another 40 minutes or so and Tmobile will need to be paid for more
use. I did not purchase access from Tmobile since:

- I don't want (or need) a $29/month 12 contract.
- A full day will cost $9.95, I only need 40 minutes.
- Per minute will be $.10/min, minimum 1 hour.

So I've used my Sprint Vision phone for the connection. It's slower but
it's already paid for.

Is there a more flexable way to use Tmobile or other hotspots? Is there
someone on the list that knows more about all the plans and roaming
agreements?
