A common setup for your environment is to install a Linksys, D-link, SMC,
Netgear, SonicWall combo Access Point and router. Normally it's as easy as
plugging the AP/Router "WAN" port into the DSL device and it will work. If
you need PPOE you may need additional settings.

It's likely that the AP signal will reach the 30 feet into your kitchen.

Take the time to setup some form of security, most of the new devices
support WPA.

I have Comcast as the ISP.  The connection goes to my office which is about
