We've been using the 17 centimeter square VIA M10000 motherboard as a combination wired/wireless LAN router/server for about a year, now. It's small size and low power consumption permits mounting in small enclosures, but we stuck with our mid-sized tower because it already held our fdd, dvd, internal hdd, and two removable hdd drives. It has an integrated NIC and we added another for the wired side of the LAN. We attached a wireless USB transceiver to one of the 2.0 ports and a long cable lets us mount it on a roof mast. We get coverage to the beach a block away, which was what we wanted. Did I mention we run on Linux?

VIA just announced a couple of new mini-ITX mobos. One has dual NICs. They also announced a 12 cm square nano-ITX mobo! Can't wait to try that!

Here's a link to the mobo we use. Other links will take you to their other products.
