The trouble is that they drown out other potentially good signals. We've had at least two installs that stopped working because a 2Wire signal appeared - presumably after a neighbor ordered SBC DSL and received their combo DNS modem, router and wireless AP box. Rumour has it that these are 300mW devices. And I concur with another poster - I'm sure many of the people with these boxes don't even have wireless. Especially in our main neighborhood where our signal is pretty ubiquitous. Many people find out about us just by turning on their laptops.. I wish these boxes came with a little switch on the side "Wireless On/Off", and shipped it off. Then people could easily turn it on if they need it. Hmm, I wonder if there's any basis for an FCC complaint to the manufacturer because they're causing so much needless interference? And, if we did make a complaint, would it go anywhere? cheers, michael www.sdwug.org
