Hi all, If you haven't seen it yet, read the chapter on how to build a tin can antenna from this ExtremeTech adaptation of the chapter in my book, Wi-Fi Toys. http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1558,1643394,00.asp
They converted the pics and text from Chapter 3 of the book and put it up on their page as an article. It looks nice, even though there's a ton of traditional ZiffDavis ads surrounding it. ;) I especially liked that they direct people to Trevor Marshall's NEC2 antenna simulation software site right from the article. I spent hours preparing the screenshot for that figure and it's one of my favorites... So busy! http://www.extremetech.com/image_popup/0,1554,s=1034&iid=86623,00.asp [...] There is some free antenna simulation software available on the web called 4NEC2. The basis of the simulation is the "Numerical Electromagnetic Code," hence NEC. This software can be used to simulate thousands of different antennas. One such antenna is our sweet little waveguide antenna. The screenshot in Figure 3-20 shows the simulation for the can antenna we built in this chapter. You can obtain a recent copy of NEC2 from the "links" section and download the coffee can antenna simulation model. http://www.nec2.org/ http://www.nec2.org/coffee.txt [...] Take a look! -Mike Outmesguine -- Related links: http://www.wifi-toys.com http://www.socalwug.org http://www.transstellar.com http://www.bluedriving.com http://www.unwireiraq.com http://wireless.weblogsinc.com http://www.popsci.com/h20
