The Sierra Wireless AirCard 580 has an external antenna, but SW disavows
responsibility. I use a roof-mounted antenna for my SierraWireless Aircard
555 (http://www.socalwug.org/sierraaircard.htm) which is the old-slow 80kbps
Verizon service. I've been eyeing the AC580 - though VZW doesn't even have
me on their LA coverage map! :(

Here's their FAQ:

Q: Can I use a external antenna?
A: The MC card connector on the AirCard 580 is only for testing use.
Although some third party MC card connector adapters are available to
connect an external antenna to the AirCard 580, Sierra Wireless is not
responsible for using such a configuration.

Are there any other cards that will work with Verizon EVDO that have
external antenna connectors?
