Well since I could find very little interest in an orange county wide area
wireless network :(, I'm going to stick with my go-anywhere cellular
internet connection. I'm currently using Verizons Express Network which I
am very pleased with; the latest firmware upgrade to my Motorola T720 allows
me to get roughly 100kb/s up and down on average and I have yet to be in an
area around OC with out service. The problem is that they are trying to
force me in to another contract if I change plans and since number
portability is now mature and I have a Motorola v60 Tri-mode phone, I have
been looking at the other providers. Does anyone have any opinions or first
hand experience on the data services available with T-mobile, Cingular/AT&T
and/or Sprint? I've done some searching on Google groups and it seems GPRS
is somewhat lacking with a maximum throughput of 45kb/s and in some areas
like San Francisco you are lucky to get 9600bps. What's it like in OC?
Also, as far as plans go, unless I'm mistaken T-mobile seems to have the
best deal for data at $20/mo giving you unlimited usage.

Thanks in advance for any feedback,
David Cook.
