At a Socalwug meeting a few weeks ago, I talked about my Maui wardrive. Here's an article with those results and a bit more on wireless in Maui.
Btw, one question was asked about how many default SSIDs there were without WEP enabled. I went back through the results and found out that of 570 APs, 185 or 32.5% were just plugged in out of the box.
