I agree, that's why I have been postponing further changes for
https://github.com/SOCI/soci/issues/163
I've only committed two small fixes for it.

I've just split and closed the #163.
The second part of the improvements should happen after SOCI 3.2.2
as part of https://github.com/SOCI/soci/issues/179

I'll be testing a bit more and releasing on this Sunday.
