The posts were published from the Wikipedia facebook page and shared
from the MediaWiki page. This was somewhat consistent with what we did
on twitter and G+, where we posted from the Wikimedia accounts and
retweeted/shared on Wikipedia and MediaWiki (we don't have a Wikimedia
facebook page afaik).

I'm not sure how Facebook counts "total reach" or stuff like that, but
the reach explosion might have been caused by the fact that the
MediaWiki page was mentioned explicitly (aka linked) in a couple of
those posts posted from the Wikipedia page.
