[social] Setting up Cable Modem under Fedora Core 3

The subject line says it all. I've successfully installed FC3 dual-boot 
with WinXP. Any pointers on how to set up the cable modem? It's kind of 
a screwy deal I think. I have a NIC that connects to the modem via 
ethernet cable. The modem is NOT a router and doesn't have an IP 
address. No matter what I do I can't get the stupid thing to talk to my 
ISP. They're not much help, "We don't support RedHat". Any clues, people?
