The version I quoted emphasizes that how one is taught prior to age seven, reflects how they will respond after age seven.
Anthony quoted Loyola's statement. That one emphasizes that what is set in early childhood, remains set for their life.
A third version "and after that he is mine forever", reflects that beliefs are set by age seven based upon what they are taught, and that the individual will not stray from those beliefs, in later life.

Too bad none of it is true.
At least in matters of religion which is what I presume these fellows to be speaking of. I was raised in a very religious home, but I haven't darkened the door of a church in many years -- by conscious choice, not merely apathy.
Although I have to give my parents their due; out of five kids they batted .800 in that area. I'm the black-sheep.
