Hey,

There is a nice review of Ubuntu:

Ubuntu is a fantastic desktop distribution. It doesn't hide the fact that it is Linux, and still does an amazing job at being usable to incomming users. It does this through its laser-like focus on usability and not by trying to emulate the Windows interface (something other desktop distros are guilty of).

Ubuntu is a totally different system from Windows, and yet my mom has no problems using it. If I bought a computer for my mom, I'd feel confident giving her Ubuntu. And yet, Ubuntu doesn't limit anything that I as a very technical user can do with the system (unlike other desktop distros).

Cheers,
Daniel.
