the list says "social". a quick read of the list guidelines (as sparse as they are), lead me to believe this list is designed to support a brisk, rich, exchange of ideas without need for rigid ettiquette, strict decorum, or restrictive demeanor. and oh yeah, our 'Reply to' addresses are easily viewed--or hidden.
i could easily be shouted down for this opinion, but if i were you, id just go for it. i dont see any reason to not knock on someones door--the 'occupant' always has the option to look through the peep-hole and decide whether or not he/she wishes to open the door.
