Daniel, are you serious?????????? Last time I checked, the attraction of a body to the earth -mass- by the force of gravity is pretty well constant. There may be variations around the earth, but they are probably minor.
I'm confused. Did I say that gravity changed other than through variations around the earth? Gravity varies around the earth due to the slightly irregular shape of the earth (e.g. poles vs equator) and variations in the composition of the tectonic masses (density). In addition, since I was talking about a pendulum, it is important to note that the net force (what a pendulum really measures) depends on the centripetal acceleration which varies significantly with latitude. This is why the Europeans find it cheaper to ship rockets to Guiana to launch them there, and why the Russians made a deal with ESA to launch rockets from Guiana too - the Soyuz will have almost double the payload just by launching from Guiana instead of Baikonur.
Did you interpret me saying something other than this? Daniel. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
