Right on, Ian! A pint of beer is a pint of beer, and no one can take that
away from mankind. It's a basic natural law.

Wonder if anyone read my comment about the metric system in Canada,
accompanied by a rant about our politicians who had the bad idea in the
first place.

I agree, it's a fine system for science, finances, and calculations.
Hooever, there are still a lot of maps around in Canada which were printed
in Imperial measurements with metric added. And that's a pain because if
someones talking metric, and you're thinking Imperial, it can cause a few
minor problems, like getting lost in the bush where we live.

Anyway, it's a good argument; thank goodness that we don't do financial
transactions in cowrie shells as they used to do in the South Pacific.

Pat

A pint and a half-litre are essentially the same, at least as far as
one's thirst is concerned, but asking for a half-litre is both
cumbersome and unpoetic.
