It would be easiest for everyone if "Activity Streams over XMPP" ends up simply being another use of "Atom over XMPP". i.e. it would be best is we rely on Atom Entries as the basic unit of information that gets distributed in these systems. I'm confident that as we build more of these applications we'll discover that "Activity Streams" are simply one of a number of data types that we want to be handling using the same basic search, routing, and messaging technologies. Existing "microblog" systems are already using "Atom over XMPP" to distribute data. For instance, if you look at any of the laconi.ca based systems (including Identi.ca, Leo Laporte's Twit Army <http://army.twit.tv/>, etc. ), you'll see that the updates they publish to XMPP include Atom Entries. This was, of course, also what Twitter was doing until they shut off their XMPP feeds. bob wyman
