1. the churning is not related to a policy change for the target rate. the churning occurs every day, even if the target rate is held constant for months on end. you are apparently confused by surface phenomena. -------------------------------------------
Reply: Then you must agree that the churning is completely unnecessary. -- 2. you apparently don't read the NYT. there have been an endless number of articles questioning greenspan's sainthood. and i know that financial insiders laugh him off as a joke. ------------------------------------------- Reply: How can I argue with this? You are in close association to one of the more important of the insiders and I have no doubt he does laugh Greenspan off as a joke. I must say, though, you must read a different edition of the NYT than I have available to me. -- 3. the fed is a creature of congress. ------------------------------------------- Reply: That is correct. -- yes they call greenspan up for a dog and pony show, and laugh at his jokes. it is all for show, and all know this. ------------------------------------------- Reply: Why the show? To deceive the public and other members of congress? I must say you have an interesting twist on the conspiracy theory. -- in any case, there is no question but that greenspan knows almost nothing about the operation of the fed. the political appointees have nothing to do with daily operations--handled by experts. all the fomc does is set the overnight rate target. surface phenomena. ------------------------------------------- Reply: Treasury defers to the Fed, and the Fed limits itself to that one "blunt instrument." It is a rather emasculated sovereignty. -- 4. you don't seem to understand how the advance-sale of treasuries occurs. it requires the compliance of the fed--which of course always does comply as it is not independent. all the professionals working at the fed know this. randy ------------------------------------------- Reply: I really would like to expand on this more fully--the "advance-sale" aspect. If all the professionals at the Fed know this (whatever it is), then surely some of them have published papers explaining the process on their various official sites. Will you point us to them? They publish hundreds of papers each year. Or are they being censored and gagged to keep the true story from getting out? The conspiracy it seems is not the Fed but the myth it is the Fed. That's what they don't want anyone to know. Greenspan is merely the puppet of the real conspirators who reside at Treasury. Forgive me if I think it's far-fetched. --------- Original Message --------- DATE: Wed, 20 Aug 2003 14:03:37 From: "Wray, Randall" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>,<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>,<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>,<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Cc: >1. the churning is not related to a policy change for the target rate. the churning >occurs every day, even if the target rate is held constant for months on end. you are >apparently confused by surface phenomena. >2. you apparently don't read the NYT. there have been an endless number of articles >questioning greenspan's sainthood. and i know that financial insiders laugh him off >as a joke. >3. the fed is a creature of congress. yes they call greenspan up for a dog and pony >show, and laugh at his jokes. it is all for show, and all know this. in any case, >there is no question but that greenspan knows almost nothing about the operation of >the fed. the political appointees have nothing to do with daily operations--handled >by experts. all the fomc does is set the overnight rate target. surface phenomena. >4. you don't seem to understand how the advance-sale of treasuries occurs. it >requires the compliance of the fed--which of course always does comply as it is not >independent. all the professionals working at the fed know this. >randy > ____________________________________________________________ Get advanced SPAM filtering on Webmail or POP Mail ...
