Since posting my longish attachment in response to Victor's clarification about individuals versus the powerful group, I have been reading the results of Google searches on the names of Ezra Pound and Alexander Del Mar. As a consequence  I now know that Pound got his ideas about money and economics from C.H. Douglas, and that the United Farmers of Alberta were reading Del Mar as early as 1913, before they hjad heard of Douglas and Social Credit (thanks to a history by Chick Hurst).  I also noticed that the most sympathetic treatments of Pound's political idiosyncrasies are by English professors who dismiss his ideas about money and economics, leaning on the support of their colleagues from the economics department who lament the fact that ound's superlative poetic skills were not supplemented by having learned some "real" economics--specifically general equilibrium theory!!!!!!  There is one very recent book, published this month by U. of Illinois Press, by a prof from Western Ontario, which should be reviewed and corrected by someone who has the proper credentials for doing so.

It's now pretty clear how the reputation for anti-Semitism arose. Why didn't someone put this background into our discussion long before now?
