ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ದೇವಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಇಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಎಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಹೇಳಿದಂತಿಲ್ಲ. ಹಾಗೆ ಹೇಳಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಅದು ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ಕ್ಕೆ ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮೊಟಕುಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಕಾಯ್ದೆಯನ್ನು ಜಾರಿಗೆ ತರಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ. ಕೆಲವು ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದವರು ಜನರ ದಿಕ್ಕು ತಪ್ಪಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಅನ್ನಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಸಂತೋಷ್ ಸರ್ ನೀವು ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ಪುಟಗಳನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಸರ್ . 1829 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಬ್ರಿಟೀಷ್ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಸತೀ ಪಧ್ಧತಿಯನ್ನು ನಿಷೇಧಿಸಿದಾಗ ನಮ್ಮ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯಸ್ತ ಜನಸಮುದಾಯ ಬಹಳ ಪ್ರತಿರೋಧವನ್ನು ಒಡ್ಡಿತ್ತು. ಅದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯಸ್ತ ಜನರು ಬಹಳಷ್ಟು ಗಲಭೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಅಂದಿನ ಕಾಲದ ರಾಜಾರಾಮ್ ಮೋಹನ್ ರಾಯ್ ರವರ ಜೀವನದ ಕಥೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಲೇಖಕರೇ ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆ ಪಧ್ಧತಿಯನ್ನು ಇಂದಿನ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಸಮಾಜ ವಿರೋಧಿಸುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲವೇ? ಅಂದು ಇದೇ ಸಮಾಜ, ಅಂತಹ ಆಚರಣೆಗಳು ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯ ಎಂದು ಕಾನೂನನ್ನು ವಿರೋಧಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲವೇ? ಅಂದರೆ ಕಾಲ ಬದಲಾದ ಹಾಗೆ ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಗರೀಕತೆಗಳು ಬೆಳೆದ ಹಾಗೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಅರ್ಥ ಹೀನ ಕೆಲವೊಂದು ಆಚರಣೆಗಳು ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತವೆ. ಇನ್ನೂ ಕಾಯ್ದೆ ಬಂದಿಲ್ಲ. ನನ್ನ ತಿಳುವಳಿಕೆಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಅದು ವಿಧಾನ ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಮಂಡನೆಯೂ ನಡೆದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಏನಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲದೇ ನಾವು ವಿರೋದಿಸುವುದು ತಪ್ಪಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಮಾಧ್ಯಮಗಳು ಕೇವಲ ಊಹನೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಚರ್ಚೆ ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನಮ್ಮ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವುದಿದ್ದರೆ ನಾವೂ ವಿರೋಧಿಸಬಹುದಲ್ಲವೇ? ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಹಕ್ಕು ನ ನೆಪದಲ್ಲಿ , ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯದ ನೆಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲ್ಲಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುವ ಸಮಾಜದ ಕೆಳ ವರ್ಗದವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಗುವ ದೌರ್ಜನ್ಯವನ್ನು ನಾವು ವಿರೋಧಿಸಬೇಕಾಗಿದೆ. ಏನಂತಿರಿ ಸಂತೋಷ್ ಸರ್
