Indeed, you are right. Perhaps changing the default settings on existing devices will be dangerous. As a new value (e.g., 9600 baud) remain after a firmware upgrade, it is not a big problem at all. Thanks for your feedback, I see that you are right. > net5501 will be new though; it would be nice to see it there. > (some way to swap port assignments between the internal and external > ports would be Quite Handy too...) Agreed, the net5501 will be a good platform to implement this feature. A standard 9600 8N1 serial port will be nice. The net4801 has two serial ports too. Are you suggesting swapping port assignments, and the port were the comBIOS is listening, between the internal and external *serial* ports? I am not an expert at all, but I find this feature "dangerous". What happens if someone moves the console to the internal port and there is not a terminal connected to it? As there is only a DB9 connector (at least on the net4801!) recovering the external console port after a mistake will be challenging. Of course, swapping these ports between tty0 and tty1 without changing the physical port were the comBIOS is listening is a different matter. This change will make sense for people using, we say, a modem connected to the internal port. Cheers, Igor. _______________________________________________ Soekris-tech mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.soekris.com/mailman/listinfo/soekris-tech
