Guess I'm using the card for some pretty weird stuff.

I have Net4801's that I use for some remote telemetry systems and
Automatic Vehicle Location and WiFi tracking systems.
For the Vehicle tracking systems, each device has a Axiom GPS connected
to the internal serial port, as well as Atherons WiFi and a USB Cellular
CDMA card. These units track the coverage of our WiFi system, and
report to the central server where ever there are failures in coverage.

For the telemetry systems, I use a Measurement Computing 2513 or 2517
card to do Analog and Digital I/O to the card that's connected to
sensors to read status indicators, pressures and temperatures.

The cards have Atheros WiFi cards installed as well as a USB Cellular
CDMA card that allow them to communicate their readings to the central
site on a timed basis. Would be nice if I could use the on board GPIO
chip for some of the small stuff, but the I/O capabilities that I need
from that chip don't come out on the connector, I think.

Definitely the most cost effective way to do the control and monitoring
I'm doing. WAY less expensive than a PLC and a radio and I/O cards, and
WAY more flexible.

I run NetBSD on the cards off of a 2Gig CF with no problem for either
of these systems. Only wish there was some kind of on-board EEPROM or
CMOS storage I could put configuration information into (or a second
CF?). The CF has the software on it for either application, but I have
to modify the image to select the program based on what the machine is
being used for. With some kind of configuration storage, I'd be able to
have a 'generic' program that selects what it does based on the board
configuration.

Excellent. Thanks for clearing the bit about the 5v conectivity up.

I'm still very curious about the rest of the specs for using PCI
cards.

I'd be interested in hearing from anyone using a non-network
(lan1641, etc.) PCI card with any of the Soekris line to extend its
functionality beyond network routing, etc.
