Hi, Patrik. How complete is your dhcp/tftp setup? I myself have a setup (on Mandriva 2007.1 server) where is made use of several classes of clients. I have several clients that boot via a netboot floppy and those fall in the 'PxeLinux' class. The Soekris has a native PXE client onboard and falls in the class PXEClient. This is all encoded in the Vendor Identification that is requested/send by the client in the initial negotiation. Could it be that your soekris looks for a file in another class config where the file is not properly configured? Try looking in the syslog files or specific dhcp/tftp logfiles. Goodluck hunting this one. EgbertJan NL

I'm using a PXE setup on linux, dhcpd + tftpd server that I know work, I've used it to install other computers with this setup. But when I boot the 4801, it gets the information from the dhcp server correctly, but when it requests the boot image from the tftp server it requests a filename that is different from the one supplied in the dhcpd.conf file, and the difference is that it attached the string "M-^?" (without quotes) to the string, effectively asking fro an non existing file. Now, I did try to rename the file so that it would match, but to no luck. Anybody experienced this, and did you find a fix? /Patrik Patrik Arlos, Ph.D Dept.Telecommunications systems, School of Engineering Blekinge Institute of Technology Phone +46 455 385 444 Mobile +46 733 800 312
