Correct .... the proper NIC (device  vr   # VIA Rhine, Rhine II) must be
enabled in the kernel config.

The config below works and you'll get a nice small kernel. Compile
instructions here <http://www.ultradesic.com/?section=144>  ... be aware
that the USB port is disabled.
