Hello,

just in case anyone has problems booting a Linux kernel off a CF card on
an Soekris box using an "burn on PC"-created image and GRUB again, try
this:

- boot up Soekris box and write down (C/H/S) disk geometry values
- find out where in the build procedure fdisk is run and pass it the
  C/H/S values:

  fdisk -C cyls -H heads -S sects ...

If this doesn't help, there's apparently a bug in GRUB. If it does,
please report it back. I've been getting more and more curious about
what exactly the problem is here, just don't have the time to test it
myself. Strange that no-one has mentioned this so far, in an OpenBSD
environment this is common knowledge.

Bill

P.S. Quite some thread you started, Domenico;)
