thx to all of you .....  reading all your tips gave me the solution at
the end  and it was not a HW issue, which was my own conclusion at
some point

1) first of all I compiled the kernel wrongly with the GEODE options ... hmm
2) I made a new kernel compile with CPU_ELAN & CPU_SOEKRIS and all was done

Pretty good:
