John,

I am not using the LCD as a console (not using any input device w/ it
either) at this point. I have the MODEL 634 from Crystalfontz and I am
driving it w/ LCDproc under FreeBSD 6.2. Everything works fine, EXCEPT, LCDd
hangs on startup (when loading it via rc.conf). I need to issue a ^C for the
boot process to proceed; then everything works fine. After a Google search
it seems like other people experienced similar behavior w/ this setup even
when using the 634 under Linux. I think it is probably due to the LCDproc
driver for this model. I mention this because I'm interested in knowing if
anyone has tried LCDproc w/ a different model LCD and if things work
properly.

Hi Tom,

Are you using the serial LCD panel as a console with a Soekris? If
so, which panel did you buy and what are you doing for keyboard input?

Thanks,
John
